New ultra high efficiency water heater This water heater is so efficient the exhaust gasses vent through a plastic pipe. The combustion air comes directly from the outside using a second plastic (PVC) pipe. This fairly compact water heater provides adequate hot water for the entire 36 unit building.

Solar tank piping. Cold water from the street enters heat exchangers in the solar tank, and gets warmed before entering the gas water heater. The gas water heater runs less since the water is preheated with solar.
